The Walsall Windrush Sisters project is scaling up, and we’re activating a new volunteer drive to bring more community voices into the heart of our heritage work. As we expand our project, we’re opening a wide range of roles for people who want to contribute, learn, and grow.

We’re gearing up for a key moment in the Walsall Windrush Sisters project calendar with a community-wide Volunteer Drive event on International Volunteer Day, taking place Thursday 5 December from 10am–4pm at Bethel Lighthouse Centre.

The Walsall Windrush Sisters project delivered a high-impact Oral History Training Day supported by the Oral History Society, bringing participants together for a hands-on, knowledge-rich session designed to strengthen the foundations of our upcoming heritage work.

We were proud to take part in the Local History Fair at Walsall Central Library, showcasing the Walsall Windrush Sisters Project and sharing the incredible stories behind our exhibition.

The Walsall Windrush Sisters Project joined a wide range of community organisations at this year’s Black History Month Marketplace at Walsall Council Civic Centre. The event created a dynamic space for sharing heritage, celebrating identity, and engaging residents in the stories that shape Walsall’s cultural landscape.

The official launch of the Walsall Windrush Sisters Project brought together elders, families, and partners to celebrate the powerful stories of Caribbean women in Walsall.

Walsall Black Sisters Collective took part in the 4th Windrush International Conference in Birmingham, hosted by the Windrush National Organisation. The event brought together a powerful cross-section of voices from grassroots organisers, academics, policy leaders, artists, and community advocates, all aligned around the theme “Legacy, Leadership, and the Future.”

We’re proud to see the BBC highlighting the Walsall Windrush Sisters exhibition, bringing national attention to the stories of Caribbean women who shaped our town.

Over the past month, our 31 Days 31 Books campaign has spotlighted writers whose work deepens the conversation around Black British history, identity, and creativity. The campaign sits at the heart of what we do at Walsall Windrush Sisters, amplifying the voices and experiences that have shaped Britain across generations.
