Volunteer Campaign
Volunteer Campaign Launch: Join the Walsall Windrush Sisters Project
The Walsall Windrush Sisters project is scaling up, and we’re activating a new volunteer drive to bring more community voices into the heart of our heritage work. As we expand our project, we’re opening a wide range of roles for people who want to contribute, learn, and grow.
We’re recruiting across key areas including photo documentary, digital scanning, admin support, oral history interview support, transcription, event support, and advocacy. Every role plays a strategic part in preserving stories, strengthening community identity, and building a rich legacy for future generations. No experience is required, just enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to get involved.
To kick off the campaign, we’re hosting a Volunteer Drive event on International Volunteer Day: Thursday 5 December, 10am–4pm, at Bethel Lighthouse Centre. The day will bring together organisations from across the borough, plus international food, cultural celebration, and an open invitation for attendees to wear cultural attire with pride. It’s a dynamic space to meet new people, explore opportunities, and see where your skills could thrive.
Volunteering creates real impact, not only for the project, but for personal development. Whether you want hands-on creative experience, confidence-building community work, or a chance to contribute to a meaningful heritage initiative, there’s a place for you on the team. We’re excited to welcome new volunteers and build a stronger, more connected future together!
